A heuristic metaphor "allows practitioners to investigate phenomena without implying the casual relationships of the source domain to the target domain" Ruaune et al. (2007).

Dr. Robin Throne will be a visiting researcher at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill Louis Round Wilson Special Collections Library for data collection from the Southern Historical Collection for her heuristic research study, "Sea Island Cotton as heuristic metaphor for the Port Royal Experiment" from July 21-27, 2013.  This research scholarship has been generously supported by Northcentral University.
